I am Pete Wirtz, president of Pete the Painter, Inc. I started the company in 1969 from our shop on Landwehr Road, and that is still where you will find us. In 57 years we have painted more than a million square feet on the North Shore: three generations of homes in some families, plus schools, park district buildings, hotels, village halls, Metra stations, and Six Flags Great America.

Interior and exterior painting is the core of it. Around that we handle wallpaper, drywall and plaster repair, trim carpentry, cabinet and door refinishing, deck and fence staining, power washing, and commercial coatings. One crew, one call, one number to hold accountable.

What has not changed since 1969 is that I look at your home myself, tell you straight what it needs, and put the price in writing before anyone opens a can of paint.

Honest walk-throughs

I tell you what needs doing and what does not. If your exterior just needs caulk and a touch-up this year, that is exactly what I will say.

One number for the scope we agreed on. No hourly surprises and no add-ons you did not approve.

Scrape, sand, prime, caulk, and moisture checks. It is the part cheap painters skip, and it is why their work peels by the second winter.

Crews you can have in your home

Homeowners deserve straight information whether they hire us or do it themselves. That is why Pete puts how-to videos on the Home Makeover YouTube channel, has spoken to painting contractors around the country about doing the job right, and keeps a FAQ with real answers about cost and prep.

Where We Work
